January 16 Prayer Update

It's amazing how often our homeless friends express their belief that a relationship with God -- salvation -- is dependent on them getting their act together. They believe that they need to be good enough or do enough good things in order to go to heaven.  And of course, this false narrative keeps them away.  The conditions of their lives -- homelessness, broken family relationships, addiction, even crime --  only confirm to them that God is unreachable.  But here is the Good News!

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" Rom 3:23-24

This is why our Hope 680 volunteers, fleshing out our Good Shepherd Jesus, keep going to the homeless camps.  They want to tell these friends that they are deeply loved, so loved in fact, that Jesus didn't wait for them to get their act together and come to Him. No! He came to them!

Please continue to pray that the truth of the Gospel would be understood and received by these lost and battered sheep.

The homeless are particularly affected by Covid. Their lack of medical care and the rough conditions they live in make them even more vulnerable to the dangers of this virus. Please pray for Jim, who out of fear of getting sick, has isolated himself from others for nearly two years. Our team was able to talk to him from a distance, and he accepted a lunch, a blessing bag, and even a Bible!

"If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish." Matthew 18:12-14
