Dec 7th Prayer Update
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Our last outreach of 2024 was very productive. We were able to distribute many gifts of food, hot coffee, and numerous Bibles and freedom from addiction booklets. We identified a few folks who were in need of a warm jacket and the occasional tent. It's our prayer, the Lord helps us to be discerning about when to hand out tents because we don't want to enable homelessness. Nevertheless, we want to live out the mercy and graceof God to those in need. We continue to point people to the gospel and some local resources such as the Bay Area Rescue Mission. Above all, it's our desire to give help to people with the love of Jesus and His word. On this outreach, we handed out 19 English language Bibles, 12 Freedom from Addiction books, and 1 Spanish-language Bible.
As we close the year 2024, please consider giving an end-of-the-year gift to our ministry. At the moment, we are behind our annual budget goals. As always, we trust in the Lord to provide for all of our needs.
Our team spent a long time talking with Randy in Central Concord. He has problems with his feet and we were thankful to be able to provide some medical supplies. He shared that he is 55 years old and was released from the county jail two weeks ago. Our team prayed for him and he accepted a Bible and a freedom from addiction booklet.
A highlight for our Vallejo team was a significant conversation with Jasmine. As our team spent time with her, she really opened up about her life. She shared about her children who are with their respective fathers because drugs have been a part of her life for some time. She was very open to the gospel and we discussed it with her at length. She willingly received a freedom from addiction booklet and it's our hope it is instrumental in directing her to the Lord as her only hope of salvation.
We spoke with Randy, an army vet in Vallejo and we were really encouraged by how much attention he was giving the conversation. In this photo you can see him holding a Bible, a freedom from addiction booklet, along with a hot cup of coffee. We pray he reads the material given especially the Bible, and that God uses it to make an impact for eternity. He was recently awarded a financial settlement. We prayed with him that God would help him to use discernment in its use for permanent housing and to adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle.
We spent some time with Lonnie. He is no longer under an overpass. In our conversations, we have a hard time discerning where he is in relation to his faith in Jesus. He shared some terrible stories about life on the streets. He was genuinely glad to see our team. He continues to pursue the desire to get a license to work as a general contractor. He has to battle constant theft of his possessions, including his ID.
Our team has spent time with Andy on previous outreach events and we've also prayed with him. He shared that he lost his children after his wife separated from him. The team provided him with a heavy tent and prayed with him once again. They discussed the gospel with Andy and prayed for his salvation. He also requested prayer for his job situation. He has skills in landscaping.
Please pray for these individuals who took Bibles or previously received a Bible. We ask that you pray that they would read the Bibles provided.
