Aug 3rd Prayer Update

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
— Matthew 5:13

Temperatures are still high during our Saturday outreach events. We've kept on with our offer of cold brew coffee to folks rather than hot cups of coffee and it continues to be appreciated. On this last outreach we gave out: 9 English Bibles, 1 in Spanish, and 2 addiction books. Occasionally we have an outreach that is a little light on the photos and this last Saturday was one of those. But we are thankful for the depth of conversations that the Lord allowed and the connections made. We continue to be grateful that we can remain faithful to this gospel ministry. Although this report is short, we still appreciate your prayers for those named here.

We approached a woman named Rain and engaged her in a conversation. She used to live in a van but she shared with our team that she lost her van 8 months ago. She openly shared that her biggest struggle is with drugs. The team offered her an addiction book, which she accepted. She also shared about her grandkids and we ended by praying for her protection and that she would read her Bible.

Not all homeless folks are as clearly distinguishable as others. We stumbled across Alexander sitting in his red truck in the parking lot at the Martinez Marina. Alexander didn't have piles of trash or a dirty appearance but God directed our path to him to talk with him and discover that he too was homeless. Our team may have passed him by for several months without realizing it. But on this occasion, God allowed focused time for our team to talk to Alexander about spiritual things.

The team discussed the gospel, as well as local job opportunities and their desire to help him find work. He was very open and honest with our team about his background and willing hear from God's word. He ended with a genuine interest in attending church. We hope to see him again soon.

David keeps his area clean. We find that those who keep a tidy space usually indicate a person who has a more focused mind for a gospel conversation. The team offered him a bagged lunch and a blessing bag. We've known David for quite some time. When we converse with David he brings up that he recently lost a family inheritance to greedy siblings. We challenged him to think about his spiritual inheritance as being more important than any earthly one. We prayed for him to be more focused on God's word than on the problems of this world.

Pray for these individuals who took Bibles or previously received a Bible. We ask that you pray that they would read the Bibles provided.

Ray - took down his phone number and hope to continue to connect
Franky - Grew up in a Christian school, listened to the gospel message
Steven - Read Eph 6 with him, prayer brought him to tears.
Cyprus - would like to do a Bible study on our RV
Russel - Eagerly received a Bible
Stephanie - prayer request to reconcile with family
Will - humble response to the Bible
Billy - baptized when he was younger. Was reading from the book of John as we walked away.
Kelly - asked for prayer for his anger

Pray for these people who were friendly but declined Bibles. We pray that they will be more open on our next outreach.

Jackie (Steve's wife) - she seems to open up little by little each time we see her.
Serrica
Kathy
Karrim
Kathleen
Lonny from Albuquerque - enjoyed the cold brew
Laura - moved to years during prayer. She is fearful for her safety

Pray for these people who were closed to a conversation that God would work to soften their hearts before our next outreach.
