April 2021 Prayer Update

Toby, please pray for the many homeless folks who heard an in-depth gospel message, and received a bible last Saturday

Please praise God with us for another fruitful outreach last weekend. We had 3 teams (2 in Concord, and 1 in Martinez) and were able to pinpoint a wider range of encampments and have many in depth conversations. Many were glad to receive a new bible, and we hope for opportunities to follow up as they read it. Please find some stories and names below for your prayers.

On a sparkling April day, the Lord allowed us to follow up with old friends and challenge others to consider the good news of Jesus risen. Notably, we prayed for broken-heated Daniel to accept Jesus as Lord, for the thief to stop stealing from Ron and Peter and Salmy. Please also pray for Jarrett, an agnostic who believes God does not answer prayer and Salmy who believes Jesus taught Hindu doctrine, and for tender-heated Crystal who lost three children (perhaps abortion), as well as for Ron and Greg’s pretty serious limb infections.

  • Gospel conversation: Daniel, Salmy, Peter, Jarrett, Crystal

  • Claim Christ already: Abel, Ron, Rick, Kevin

  • Given Bibles: Daniel, Quinn, Shayna, Kevin, Crystal

  • Follow-up visit: Christian, Jarrett

  • Supplied with food and blessing bags only: Amy, Mike, Greg, James, Russell

  • Health needs (infections): Greg (below), Ron

We visited encampments near the Lexus dealership in Concord, as well as at the 680 and Olivera off-ramp, and at Civic Center. Conversations were fewer at these locations but we were at least able to pass out supplies including gospel tracts and share Jesus’ love with gifts of food and coffee. We also visited a large Spanish speaking encampment off Willow pass and were able to share there further, though with language challenges!

We were thankful to share at the large Martinez encampment with a man who was unable to speak, by the name of Jeff. He was lonely and glad that we made time to share with him.Jeff was joyful to receive the gospel message, prayer and a bible. He even hugged Adriana as he prayed. Please pray that God would open the heart of this sweet man to Himself. He seemed joyful as we shared and prayed.

We also had the opportunity to share with a man who was open about his addictions to alcohol and narcotics, that God might enable him to overcome these addictions in Jesus strength rather than his own. Pray for him to receive the true freedom that can be received in the gospel.

We had some further conversations downtown Martinez, including with Devon (below) who was content to listen to a gospel presentation and receive a bible, though he didn’t say much. Please pray for the Spirit to reveal Jesus to Devon.

We are so very thankful for so many opportunities so share the love of Jesus. Thank you all so much for your prayers, and ongoing support that enable this ongoing ministry. It is also such a blessing that many of our volunteers are returning month after month, and we’re all enjoying our team fellowship as we serve together.

Thank you so much for praying!

Grace and peace,

Toby Weiss
