June 15th Prayer Update

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
— 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

We are thankful for several volunteers who provided for the need of lunches we distributed during our last outreach.  Thank you for reading this report, and being moved to serve the Lord in this way.

Hope680 is moving forward with a plan to get several folks from our outreach team certified to be able to counsel people through their substance addiction. The program we will be using is called, Commissioned Addictions Biblical Counselor Training.  It's a training program offered through 'The Addiction Connection.'  We are happy for the opportunity to better serve those in the homeless community who are trapped in a cycle of addiction and who need biblical support to break free. If that mission is something that resonates with you, please email us and we would love to get you started.  More information on the program can be found here: https://www.hope680.org/cabc-training

Anthony’s Story

The RV team was able to have a fourth Bible study with Anthony during our last outreach. Previously, we've reported that Anthony has been homeless for over 10 years and struggles with congestive heart failure.  We are concerned with how long he has to live due to his poor health.  He continues to wrestle with God's offer of forgiveness and that it's not through works that we obtain salvation. He struggles with reading God's word, being convicted by it and being discouraged and depressed by the weight of his sin. Our team continues to encourage him to bring his burden to the Lord in prayer and acknowledge his need for God's forgiveness and grace. During this latest study, the team was able to show Anthony from the word that Jesus is God. This was a new concept for Anthony and we were encouraged to see him begin to understand who God is.

Bryce’s Story

We met Bryce for the first time on Saturday and he shared he was minutes into becoming homeless. When our team asked him what he needed tangibly, he replied that he didn't yet know. He was trying to understand how to adapt to his new situation. He accepted bottled water and prayer. The team prayed for him for housing, peace and calm as he looks for a solution to his problem. They opened the word with Bryce and read him passages about being strong and courageous and he accepted a Bible from our team. The team felt privileged to meet him and would ask you to pray with us that he is able to see God's care for him through our interaction.

Kareem’s Story:

Kareem has a Muslim background and is always friendly and open to lengthy conversations with us. We've interacted with Kareem for several months. His biggest prayer request is for work and he seems to be familiar with Christianity. We believe Kareem might be a good Bible study candidate. This would give us extended time to delve into God's word with him. On this latest outreach, the team encouraged him to read the Bible that he had received.  He requested prayer for a job opportunity he was pursuing. Please join us in praying for Kareem that God would grant him saving faith and provide him with work.
